Tiwa Savage's entry into Nollywood with an upcoming movie role

Nigerian music superstar Tiwa Savage has announced she will be making her acting debut in an upcoming Nollywood movie. 

The yet-to-be-titled movie is produced by Nigerian production company 3EB and will feature Tiwa as one of the lead characters.

This marks Tiwa's first major venture into acting, expanding her entertainment career beyond music. She hinted the role was specially written for her, suggesting a story built around her persona.

Filming is set to commence in 2023 although further details are still under wraps. Fans are excited to see Tiwa bring her vibrant personality to the screen. 

The Afrobeats singer has previously appeared in minor cameos but this will be her first major substantive acting gig. 

Tiwa's crossover into movies follows other Nigerian musicians like 2face Idibia who have successfully transitioned.

The pop diva looks set to display her acting abilities and extend her entertainment profile in Nollywood soon.

Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage has confirmed she will star in her first major Nollywood movie role next year, marking a crossover into acting.

Savage made this known via her social media page on Wednesday.

She wrote:

"Guys, I'm so excited to announce that my first feature film #WaterAndGarri will be released this year through @primevideo and shown in over 240 countries and territories worldwide!

"This has been over two years in the making and I must say this is probably one of the most adventurous, fulfilling things I've done. I feel blessed and honoured to not only be making my debut as a lead actor but to have also executively produced this film.

"I honestly can't wait to take you guys along with me on this next phase of my life and art. I'm just getting started. Huge love to Director @mejialabi. You made a masterpiece! Also Producer @J_adesanya @missamadi."
