Afrobeats and Amapiano has Overshadowed Hip-hop music

In a recent interview, popular South African rapper Nasty C stated that Afrobeats and Amapiano music are better than Hip-hop currently.

He argued artists in those genres are making more creative, original, and innovative music compared to mainstream rap right now.

Nasty C said hip-hop has become stale, repetitive and lost its edge, leading to the rise of Afrobeats and Amapiano. He specifically praised Nigerian Afrobeats artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Fireboy DML for pushing boundaries.

Additionally, he highlighted South African Amapiano producers like Kabza de Small who are reinventing house music into their own style. Nasty C believes Hip-hop has a lot to learn from how Afrobeats and Amapiano artists are evolving their genres and finding global success.

He urged rap artists to be more creative, make music with meaning, and not just copy trends if they want Hip-hop to regain its former prominence in the culture.
